SHOEBURY COMMON NORTH CONSULTATION
/This Bulletin relates specifically to the Southend Borough Council Consultation on Shoebury Common North, that commenced on Thursday August 11th 2016 and ends on Sunday September 11th 2016.
The Consultation is a continuation of the work of the Shoeburyness Coastal Community Team in its aim of developing a recreational vision for the Shoebury area-------- Friends of Shoebury Common are part of that team.
Your views are needed: It would be extremely useful for the Coastal Community Team if you would describe your current usage of Shoebury Common North and/or make any additional suggestions for non-commercial future usage of this land. This is the same piece of land that we attempted to get listed as a Village Green, but was unsuccessful.
The Consultation includes workshops. The first was held on August 11th 2016 but unfortunately with next to no participation by the public.
The second workshop is due to be held on Saturday August 20th 2016 from 9 am until 11 am at Shoebury Common South near to Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
We have suggested that the upcoming workshop should be open for a longer period. If there are any changes, to the venue or time of the workshop, we will endeavour to let you know.
The workshop will provide a local opportunity to complete a survey that has been put together by the Council in the form of a Questionnaire, a scanned copy of which is attached.
We strongly recommend that you read the attached document entitled “Background Info regarding Shoebury Common North” prior to completing the Questionnaire; it importantly includes a cautionary note regarding Questions 1 to 3 inclusive.
Please read this document before completing the Questionnaire.
If you are unable to attend the Shoebury Common workshop on Saturday August 20th 2016, there are various other ways you can complete the Questionnaire and participate in the Consultation, as follows:-
a) online at:
www.southend.gov.uk/shoeburycommonnorth
b) by submission of a completed hard copy of the Questionnaire to be submitted to the address shown on page 5 of the Questionnaire.
For those who wish to complete a hard copy of the Questionnaire we would recommend that you aim to submit your completed document by Friday 9thSeptember 2016 to avoid missing the Consultation deadline– because the stated end date of the Consultation of 11th September is a non-working day.
We would emphasize that this is a very important survey and we are hoping there will be a fantastic response to it.
If you believe there should be no commercial or resident building on this land, for the benefit of future generations, this your opportunity to say so, when completing the Questionnaire.
A second bulletin is to follow with acopy of the Council questionnaire & location map.
Kind regards,
Ray Bailey & PeterGrubb --Friends of Shoebury Common (FoSC)
