The Shoebury Garrison Social Network has its own Code of Conduct
Shoebury Garrison Social Media Code of Conduct
Due to the increasing popularity of the Garrison Facebook Group - and in order to maintain healthy, friendly and community led social media outlets - the Garrison Residents Association (GRA) Committee has formally drafted the following ‘Code of Conduct’, modelled on existing examples, in line with normal social media practices for administrating online. This is to ensure that social media continues to work as a constructive communication platform for the local community.
Below are basic guidelines, which all Garrison social media participants should adhere to:
Please stay on-topic.
It is normal for some topics to drift from the stated subject. However, to ensure maximum benefit for everyone, we encourage you to keep your post (including any subsequent replies and comments) as close to the subject as possible. No spamming.
There are many people in the Shoebury Garrison community, so we ask that you do not post new topics / respond to multiple posts in rapid succession, in an attempt to monopolise the dialogue. Multiple/duplicate posts, as well as repeated posts on the same topic (or in the same tone) may be removed on sight - although the first of those duplicates may be left in place. Furthermore, any use of monopolising a topic in order to ‘shout down’ or ‘bully’ other participants points of view will be reviewed and may be removed by the Admin team if deemed inappropriate. No offensive language.
The social media page/group has been set up as a community forum for all Shoebury Garrison residents of all ages. It is therefore an open page/group available to all, and as such the Admin team will remove any post that contains offensive language, and may remove/block the user(s) responsible. No personal attacks.
Please avoid personal attacks, slurs, and profanity in your interactions. This includes refraining from racist and/or sexist comments and attacks. Treat one another with civility and respect. Any hostile, derogatory or deliberately insulting comments towards a specific individual or group will be removed, and the Admin team may remove/block the user(s) responsibleNo flaming.
Should you publish posts/comments which could be seen as deliberately intended to induce an angry response from other residents, then the Admin team reserve the right to review and possibly remove the post, as well as remove/block the user(s) responsible.
The Social Media Admin team reserve the right to remove any comment at any time for any reason. Please Note: If a portion of a comment is inappropriate, the entire comment can be deleted.
Whilst it is not the wish to remove/block any participants and users from the Shoebury Garrison social media page/group, the Admin team reserve the right to remove/block any users who continually flout the Code of Conduct guidelines set out above. Depending on the severity of the user’s conduct, in the first instance a warning may be given with an example of the issue provided. However, if the user continues in the same vein, they will be removed/blocked from the page/group forthwith.
If you have any issues or concerns that you wish to flag with the GRA Committee directly, or should you wish to complain about the conduct of the GRA or its Officers, please refer to contact details on the website - http://www.shoeburygarrison.com/contact-us/ to ensure a personal, considered & timely response.
