The GRA
The GRA was founded by residents in 2008 and is open to all Garrison residents over the age of 18 whether or not they own a property, and to non-resident owners of Garrison properties.
At the GRA Annual General Meeting on November 28th 2011, members agreed a change in the constitution removing the annual subscription charge and making membership of the GRA free and automatic to all qualifying residents, unless they decide to opt out.
Why you should join the GRA
The GRA exists to serve the interests of all Garrison residents. It plays a vital and active role in dealing with the developers C&M, their management company SGMCL and their managing agents Fowler & Spenceley Property Management (updated details on Useful Links page) across a wide range of issues including leasehold property maintenance, service and estate charges, parking, adoption of roads by Southend Borough Council and garden and general site maintenance. It also maintains contact with SBC planning and parks departments both directly and through ward councillors and with other agencies such as English Heritage.
Our Role
The role of the GRA will become increasingly important as we near the date for the withdrawal of C&M and the handing over of site management to the residents through SGMCL, but with a new elected board of directors entirely made up of residents. Your committee is already dealing with crucial matters of finance, logistics, planning and maintenance, which will need to be resolved with the developers if the residents are not to be left with some difficult and expensive problems.
The website is for you. If you have any ideas for making the Garrison an even better place to live, or have a complaint or you just want to get something off your chest or to share with fellow residents through the website, contact any of the officers or committee members; their contact details are on the website here.
Seasonal Photos
We are proud of the Garrison, and many residents email or post their photos on our Facebook group. Please visit our photos page for more.
